Is Silence Really Golden?

Being silent is difficult for most people; especially little kids.  Many people would tell us to be silent takes a great deal of discipline. When counseling, we should be silent to hear the pain of the patient. When in the court of law, we are instructed to be silent and allow our accusers to speak.   But today, I would like to propose it is easier to stay silent than it is to speak the truth.  Being quiet to keep the peace only allows people to continue down the wrong path. It is only truth that can set us all free.

Not The Same

Lewis Carroll said, “I can’t go back to yesterday, I was a different person then”.  This is a profound statement for all who live off of “remember when” testimonies.  Most of us are not a lot of things we were back then.  Hopefully, we can say we are a little wiser, a little kinder,  and a lot more grateful. The old me belongs in the past and the new me is growing and evolving every day. It is time to forget the past and move forward [Isaiah 43:18]. Don’t let the past hold you back from what God has planned.

Part Time Lover

The musical genius Stevie Wonder wrote a song entitled “Part Time Lover” and the lyrical line says “we are strangers by day, lovers by night”. Thinking about those words reminds me of my daily on again, off again love affair with Jesus. Honestly, bible study is not every day, often prayer is routine and quick, and loving application of grace and mercy often are a far distance away. Enough about humanity.  Jesus is a full time savior. He does nothing in a partial manner. Want to be like Christ? Give on a full time basis.

Leaping Into What Is Yet to Come

A typical problem for most people is that we are resting in what has already happened. In 1956 God healed your body and in 1450 B.C. the parting of the Red Sea was a tremendous miracle, but it happened thousands of years ago.  Yes, we are looking back over our lives and thanking God for His many blessings; however, it is when we believe we will be able to see greater things [John 1:50] that more blessings will flow. Get out of what has already happened and leap into what is yet to come.
